This crazy journey of the Room to Grow Podcast these past 100 episodes has been surreal to me at times, and I cannot WAIT to do hundreds more!
But today, for episode 100, I’ve got something extra special for you. We’re taking a look back at some of the most popular episodes, the ones that have shifted my own way of thinking about things, deeply touched many listeners, and ones where I’ve had the unreal opportunity to talk to people who are changing the world one step at a time.
Ready?! Let’s do this!!!!!!!!
Interviewing Dr. Jade Teta was a total full circle moment for me, as you’ll hear on this episode, and his episode has been my most downloaded to date. Dr. Jade is an integrative physician, author and sought after expert in the realm of metabolism and self-development, and this episode is absolutely CHOCK-FULL of info you need to hear that will completely change your life, your relationships with nutrition and exercise, and how to manage stress. He talks to us about good stress vs. bad stress, diet deprivation and its’ impact on stress hormones, gives his framework for how to manage your metabolism, and so much more.
This episode has been one that I often referred my nutrition clients to when I was still working more in the capacity of a holistic nutritionist, and other professionals in the health & wellness industry have made this episode mandatory material to listen to when they take on new clients. What are you waiting for?! Go listen!
Another full circle moment came when interviewing Dr. Jolene Brighten, a Functional Medicine Naturopathic Medical Doctor and the founder of Rubus Health, a women’s medicine clinic that specializes in women’s hormones. She is recognized as a leading expert in Post-Birth Control Syndrome and the long-term side effects associated with hormonal contraceptives, and is the author of Beyond the Pill. I was blown away how much info she graciously packed into this episode and once you listen, you’ll understand why she’s renowned for her expertise.
One of my very dearest friends, Judy Arazoza, joined me for this powerful episode about relationships. The owner of Grateful Fitness, she helps women 40+ ditch diets and gain body confidence, all while seeing life from a perspective of gratitude.
After 40 years with her husband, she’s got some serious knowledge when it comes to balancing kids & marriage, keeping things interesting over the years, role of health & fitness in relationships, normalizing certain fears m any of us have with our partners, and giving us the keys to maintaining an EXCEPTIONAL relationship. This is a must-listen!
Amie of Rebelle Nutrition is going to light a fire under you to get moving with creating a business you love and taking action on all of the things you’ve been putting off. She’s a highly successful digital course creator, and talks to us all about her minimalist lifestyle, running an online business while travelling full time, what to do when you’re just starting a new business, and learning to listen to your body. So many nuggets in here!
I’ve gotten SO MANY COMMENTS about this episode over the past year, more than any other, and how much everyone loves it – and Hollie! Hollie Petrus is the Creator, Owner & Operator of Brekkie Bowls Maui, food truck serving my FAVE acai bowls on the island. One of her personal mottos is “see me less, doing more” and you’ll understand why that suits her so perfectly when you hear what she has to say.
She lets us in on manifesting growth in her business, the hard work that goes on behind the scenes that no one ever sees, managing your energy and going with the ebb & flow, unplugging and spending more time in nature, and complete and utter gratitude. Hollie has big plans that are coming together, keep an eye on this woman!
I had to round up the top 6 episodes, because this one could NOT be left off the list. Ailey Jolie is a trauma therapist, yoga teacher, meditation guide, and internationally published author. In the powerful episode, she breaks down complicated neuroscience in a really beautiful, easy to understand way and walks us through examining different types of trauma and how this can affects us both emotionally as well as physically, slowing down and tapping into the sensory experience of our bodies, and the ways our bodies communicate to others and the science behind how we often mirror the behaviour of others.
This is another episode I’ve gotten a TON of comments around and people were absolutely blown away by it. Don’t delay, check it out!
My most popular solo episode ever, there are some very personal stories shared here, and I talk about the long list of reasons and stories behind why I rarely ever drink anymore. From peer pressure (that DOES NOT stop after high school, by the way), what would happen when I used to drink heavily, particular situations I got into that shifted my perspective and how years of heavy drinking completely changed how I view alcohol, there’s a lot covered here. When I listen back to it, I can hear a lot of the emotion behind it, and I hope it touches you in some way.
A very raw episode recorded in real time after being cracked wide open during a mastermind retreat in Florida last November. Some of the biggest takeaways are around showing yourself grace and compassion, why resistance rears its’ head, the law of attraction, and asking for what you want in life. Some major lessons here that I had to learn the hard way, and I’m excited to share with you!
This is an open discussion around my personal experiences with anxiety and how that relationship has shifted drastically over the past year or two. Here on the Room to Grow podcast, I’m all about opening the door to tough conversations, and one of those that is most necessary to have is around mental health.
Paralyzing fear and doubt are at the root of anxiety, and I’m giving you concrete, tangible action steps that I have used in my own life to both prevent anxiety from coming on, and how to pull yourself from it when it hits.
This is a very important episode as I make use of the fact that there’s always room to grow! I’m letting you in on the ways I’m moving my business in a new direction, with lots of exciting stuff coming down the line on this one. Much, much more to come!
I created this episode after talking to so many women who have been telling me their fears around moving forward with their businesses and/or podcasts, and honestly? It was a pep talk for myself as much as anyone else. It actually came on by accident the other day on my phone when I was having an off day and it was SO helpful to hear the reminders – even from myself! Ha!
We talk about the fear of failing. Fear of not offering enough value. Fear of showing up imperfectly, with perfectionism rearing its’ ugly head, and feeling as though they don’t have things to say that people will want to hear. It’s all real, and there’s ways to deal.
This woman. Where to even begin?! I love love love love this episode!
The beautiful soul (inside and out!) Elana Jadallah is an entrepreneur, photographer and educator who runs the blog ElanaLoo.com and co-founded Dérive Collective, a social media consulting and photography company.
We have a frank discussion around environmental sustainability, the impact you can have with small choices, and keeping plastic out of our oceans, and I am obsessed with her gorgeous Instagram feed and all of the education she offers around making the world a better place to live.
Plus as a bonus, we got into body positivity and loving the skin you’re in, healthy hustling as an entrepreneur, how living in Hawaii has taught her to be more intentional, and avoiding burnout. Such a great and memorable episode!
Melissa Pyne is a Psychotherapist, Social Worker and Professional Coach, and we were introduced by a mutual friend and absolutely hit it off. We go into ALL things boundaries, some of the science behind how we isolate ourselves and why we’re so lonely, the various ways we numb ourselves in everyday life, and becoming more present. Jam-packed with goodness you need in your life!
Ok, Sarah is a fucking GEM. Just needed to throw that out there!
She is the visionary behind The Great Canadian Woman™, boasting a 5-star podcast, a rapidly growing annual live event, wilderness retreats, a book publication & lifestyle blog. Moreover, Sarah has an innate ability to take an idea and turn it into reality at lightning speed in BIG ways, sustainably.
We dive deep into the power of starting, building momentum, when hustle is necessary, leaving space for the magic to come through, and how to handle stalled growth. So much useful info in here that you MUST listen to if you’re an entrepreneur or have any kind of big idea stewing in the back of your brain!
This episode was a special one I released in honour of International Women’s Day, and is very, very close to my heart.
5 other women (and myself) answer 2 questions around when we made another woman or group of women feel seen, supported, loved and heard, and when another women or group of women did the same for us. The resulting stories are stunningly beautiful and moving, and I had multiple women tell me they were in tears listening. Not going to lie, I was in tears putting it together. Listening to this will change the entire course of your day in the best possible way, promise.
And last but certainly not least, this list would not be complete without mentioning all of the episodes with one of my best friends, Christina Montalvo of the amazing Confidence Project Podcast!
Christina and I team up to do a joint episode that airs on each of our podcasts at the end of every month, and these episodes are ALWAYS a huge hit. Plus, we have an absolute blast recording them – and I think it shows in the episodes. 🙂
Here’s the list so far:
Episode #24, Victim Mindset with Christina Montalvo
Episode #43, The Art of Maintaining Friendships with Christina Montalvo
Episode #79, How Your Money Mindset is Holding You Back From More Success with Christina Montalvo
Episode #88, Save the Drama for Your Mama with Christina Montalvo
And our most recent episode that we figured would make us HIGHLY unpopular….
