I’ve felt very much in my own head for this year dealing with personal issues, trying to keep my mental health on track, and massive, uprooting life changes that have shook me to my core.
And at some point, I rapidly started getting sick of myself and feeling stuck in the cycle of my own BS.
One of the fastest ways to turn around our entire attitude and give ourselves a reality check and a different perspective is to find ways to be generous to others.
Generosity can take many different forms, and the best part is that giving is contagious and can have an enormous ripple effect that you may never even see.
Being generous can be VERY simple acts of kindness: giving your time, volunteering somewhere, call a relative you haven’t spoken with for awhile, make plans with someone in your life you know is struggling and focus your attention on them, helping out a friend, making a meal for somebody, or giving your full attention and listening to hear someone who needs to talk about what’s going on in their lives.
Ultimately we all want to feel seen, heard and understood, and if we can gift that to another human being, that’s an enormous act of generosity.
Even simply thinking about and the willingness to perform a generous act actually triggers changes in our brains that make us happier
Plus, I’m giving you the one single question to start asking in your life that will shift the way you show up for others and how you feel about yourself.
