Do you ever feel like…..is this it?
Or like you’re destined for more, you have so much potential that you aren’t fulfilling but aren’t sure how to get there?
Maybe you’re just annoyed with yourself for looking around seeing what others are doing and wishing you could do the same for yourself.
I’ve got you covered, because a lot of these thoughts might be stemming from the lies you’re telling yourself. It’s a Tough Love Tuesday over here, buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Lie #1: I have to keep my phone on and attached to me at all times.
Guess what? We spent thousands of years without cell phones and survived just fine. Even a decade or two ago, many of us didn’t even own cell phones. Yet now, we tell ourselves we can’t function without them. Our cell phones distract us, pull us away from tasks we’re trying to focus on, and frankly, we aren’t nearly as good at multi-tasking as we think we are. Plus, they’re a total time suck and you have better, more important things to do than scroll Instagram. Sorry IG, I love you but I’ve got shit to do.
Lie #2: I’m not creative.
You might be thinking you have no good ideas, and you’ve been waiting for them to pop into your head like magic. Once in a while, it will. But you have to stimulate the process, and a big part of this is taking the action to stretch your creativity.
Consuming can stimulate ideas, but don’t get caught in the trap of ONLY consuming. It can make it hard to have more original thoughts, too.
Which leads into….
Lie #3: Everyone else is already doing it better.
No one else has your exact gifts, your voice, your story, you totally unique perspectives. And guess what? They started somewhere too! You’ll never get better unless you finally start somewhere.
Lie #4: I’ll be happy WHEN…
“The ultimate source of happiness lies within the quality of your thoughts.”
Happiness comes from within. Everything else is the cherry on top. This is also where gratitude comes in and finding the joy in the current moment, because there’s always something to be grateful for.
Lie #5: I must be overreacting.
This has a lot to do with setting boundaries for yourself, and too often we brush situations off by believing we’re overreacting. We’re all human, and of course that is actually the case sometimes. But when we allow this to continue, we’ll end up resentful and unhappy.
Know your limits, and to do that you have to be extremely clear on what you really want. Whether it’s with your relationship, friendships, family, children, job, business, or with yourself: BOUNDARIES are the difference between what you truly want in life and feeling massive dissatisfaction with where you ended up instead.
SHIFTING AWAY FROM THE LIES
Many of us have told ourselves these lies for so long that we don’t even realize how engrained they are in us. My hope with this episode is that it will help you start to notice these kinds of beliefs showing up in your life so that you can shift the self-talk and conversation around it and keep these lies from holding you back.
Want to chat with me? I offer FREE 30 minute consults to talk strategy around nutrition, life and business / podcasting. Let’s jump on the phone to pull back some of the lies you might be telling yourself that are stopping you from creating the life you really want and know deep down that you’re capable of. Let’s talk! Here’s my private calendar.
